Let me preface this by saying that I'll grant you it's a little odd, even for me. And in hindsight, I think it was the boots that pushed it over the top. But I was in a hurry (overslept all three alarms AGAIN) and didn't have time to figure out other shoe options.
Now I
love the fingerless lace gloves (and they really did keep my arms toasty!), but they would have been way better in black, and not just aesthetically . At least five people came up and asked me what I'd done to hurt my arms. THEY ARE GLOVES, NOT ACE BANDAGES, PEOPLE.
Also. This is my I-haven't-had-coffee-yet morning face.
A couple months ago I starting noticing how often people would comment about how they admired my "bravery of style." I really took notice when an old friend said she wished she had the courage to dress like me. My reaction is: ????
This picture notwithstanding, I don't see that I'm doing anything that unusual. I'm always on the dressier end of what's appropriate, and I do like some odd things, and I'm not scared of hats or unusual jewelry or combining things in interesting ways. But it's not like I'm trying out daring runway looks or anything. I just wear what I like and what looks good on me, without regard to current styles or what's popular. If what I like happens to be in style and popular, fantastic, but if not ... do I care? Not so much.
So I went to my mother and told her these things, and she just Looked at me.
So I went to
savetheolives and our conversation went something like this:
"I don't dress oddly, do I?"
"Well, not in a
bad way."
And there you go, I guess.
