Sunday there was a very hidious bowl of wooden fruit on the communion table, including a too-small pinapple, a banana, two Apple-Like Things, and a mango (?) that looked frighteningly like a kidney.

I have never known a mango to look remotely like a kidney before. Perhaps it was some other "exotic" fruit.

I've had a paid account for about a month now, and I still haven't made any polls yet. Time to change that. This one would go on my other LJ, but it's only an humble free one.

This was a little hard to fill out, since you didn't specify what type of library. ;-) In the ones where there's only one option, I answered for the public library downtown. In the questions with more options, I answered for both. :-)

Oh, and in the fill-it-in-yourself questions, I answered for the public library.

I adore the library, but I don't let myself go too often because I know I'll just end up with stacks of books I'll never be able to read within six weeks. (That's the longest amount of time you can have books checked out at my library.)

I'm not really thrilled with my library, but because my county has quite a few libraries, I can have things sent over to me quickly and free of charge, so overall I'm satisfied.

There are a lot of libraries around where I live and where I go to school, but I visit two often (I used to visit four often, but one closed).

How large is the one you use most often?

The local one is small, but the school one is pretty large (it's rather newly built, and it doesn't have very many books yet, unfortunately. It has a WONDERFUL collection of really old books, though! I love to walk through the basement stacks and just smell the books.)

How often do you go to the library?

During the school year, I go to my campus' library every day, sometimes multiple times in a day. Great place to study! Of course I check out books too. I go to our local library every few weeks, but sometimes once a week.

How many books do you normally check out at one time? (for yourself, not for other members of the family.)

I said 1-5. I can't check out too many books at my school library at a time because it's a hike back to my car. I just usually want to check out a few at a time anyway because I'm close to my local library or go to my school library every day, so there is no reason to check out stacks at once.

Is your library's architecture:

I LIKE Frank Lloyd Wright! :-P My school library isn't quite Frank Lloyd Wright-ish, but it has some resemblance. Look at my icon; it's a picture of the main tower on my school library. My local library has a contemporary design, which is hideous.

Do you know the librarians by name?

I know some of their names, and I invented names for some of them too. ::evil cackle::

What area of the collection do you wish was more extensive?

My local library has a pathetic collection of everything except for videos and CDs. It has tons of computers you can use too. What about BOOKS!?

My school library, as I said, doesn't have enough of anything period.

Have you ever interlibrary-loaned a book?

Every few days? LOL

Lest ye think I'm a heathen...

I don't visit my local library that much due it's size and lack of good books. Whenever I visit, it's usually to rent a video, or buy some books off their reject table. However, that does not mean that I do not like to read!! I have a huge personal library in my room (over a thousand books) and my family has a huge library of books in our living room and school room. :-D

Having such a large personal library certainly makes up for not visiting a public library often. ; )

But hey! I'm almost half way there! *squiggles* I've always wanted to own at LEAST a thousand books--preferably much, much more.
