The trolls are out! Beware of LJ communities if you want to stay unspoiled. They're hitting all sorts of random communities that have nothing to do with HP. Just warning you.

(I did happen upon one; scanned it slightly and wish I hadn't, but I frankly think it was all fake because if it was real, that's a really lame ending.)

Okay, I'm not a HP person AT ALL. I think the name of the main character is Harry, but I'm not even sure about that! ;-) But all of this "trolling" stuff is crazy!!! The icon communities that I'm a member of are doing things like scanning for memberships, checking for comments, etc., etc. I just find it hard to believe that trolls have the time and energy to go around and ruin books for people! Don't they have better things to do with their life?? Craziness.

It's really been leaked (or appears to have been). I didn't believe it until I downloaded a "copy" myself. It's basically every page of the book photographed (like, holding the book open with one hand, snapping pictures with a camera with the other). It appears to be a library copy (due to the protective cover). It certainly looks authentic. From what I saw in my brief search, it's being sniffed out rather hard by the publishers (TONS of dead links), but they haven't found all of the copies yet (as evinced by my finding a working one in less than 5 minutes). In short, I'm echoing what you said: be careful. It's almost certainly out there.

Oh, and as a comfort, I did read that there are a slew of fakes out there. Mostly put out by authors hoping to be seen, supposedly. Jerks. I hope they are stuck at McDonald's for eternity.

LOL. I totally echo your last sentence.

May they be stuck at McDonald's. Eating cold fries and .39 cent hamburgers.

I think the leak is real. One bookstore sent out copies early (ARE THEY STUPID?!) and I think it was one of those. The troll I happened upon seems to have drawn from that, but fortunately I didn't see too much.

I'm pretty much just avoiding the internet.

Do. It's not pretty. Even the New York Times got a copy early and REVIEWED IT TODAY.

Argh.
