-- there is something to be said for the satisfaction one feels when one has returned from an hour in the garden with buckets of tomatoes and okra and cucumbers.

Also, wearing cargo pants when one takes an early morning walk comes in very handy. I returned just now with pockets full of wild grapes.

I smell fresh grape juice in my future!

Fresh okra!! That is so good. A neighbor of ours is growing some and has shared it several times. And wow! It was so good!

That does indeed sound delightful--and brought to mind a beautiful picture, too!

Is this your garden?

I didn't get my patio garden in this year.
I am sort of sad about that.

I do that all the time. =)

It's sort of my garden. My dad does almost all of the work, so technically it should be his. =) I used to be involved with it (planting and tending and picking and canning and freezing, oh my!) before I started working full time.

Well if he lets you eat some, that's nice. I hope to eventually have enough room to do some gardening.

I think that I may be one of the few men my age that knows how to can and pickle and freeze vegetables and fruit. :)

Don't lose that skill! Sometimes I feel like the only person under 50 who even knows the basics about canning. Sheesh.

I'll miss a garden if I move into an apartment or something. =\ At least I must keep my herb pots.

My room mate would say
Herrrrrbs
yeah, and pretend to be stoned, at this point.

you can do a lot with a patio garden if you have time to fiddle with it every day.

I had some pretty creditable peppers and lettuce. Potted basil and parsley do really well, but I can't keep oregano, thyme or rosemary alive in a pot. I wonder if it's chlorine in the water or something like that.

My sister said that mint did well in a pot, but it would probably grow on the moon with a little encouragement.

Haha, you can't do much smoking basil leaves...

I've had good luck with basil and chives, and my orgegano plant simply overflows it's pot every year. It's amazing. I think mint would grow in any condition!

I think that it's a line from a cheech and chong movie.
Speaking of movie sequels . . .

I wonder if I need to change the soil ph on the oregano. It does good for a bit, and then withers and dies quickly.

My sister grew a regular pine tree of rosemary, and one of the roomates, roadsquish, has a bonsai rosemary. I haven't had any success with it, so it's probably my fault.

Mmm, I'd love to have rosemary.

Sorry for all the typos in the earlier comment. *facepalm*

I like it in food a lot. I am not really a typo or grammar nazi. I think that there are so much greater things for me to worry about. I see it, laugh, and pass on!

Work is over!!
time to go home!!
