I am a happy little librarian because my archiving supplies finally arrived. I am now the Archival Librarian (as well as reference, as well as tech, as well as preservation...) I've been tissue wrapping and boxing newspapers from 1942 most of the day.

I bought an old copy of The Count of Monte Cristo. In German. Please tell me why I did this.

Last night I almost saw a UFO. I was almost a believer. It was almost surreal.

Because an old copy of The Count of Monte Cristo, in German, is a classy and librarianish thing to have. It proves you are A Girl of Intellect. It will impress people. Plus, if you ever plan on moving to Germany, it will give you a head start on the language.

It will impress people. Exactly. It is vanity, vanity, all is vanity...

Not vanity, dear. Pride. "Yes, vanity is a failing indeed. But pride, when there is a real superiority of mind, pride will always be under good regulation." Darcy, Pride and Prejudice. And I didn't even have to look it up. =D
That was vain. lol.

Well, it turned out to be a life-flight helicopter landing at the hospital. But it sure LOOKED like a UFO from where I was. I promise, it looked round, and flat, and hovering.

You want it?

Well, you can't have it. It's MINE. Even if I can't read it.

No, I was lamenting the fact that it wasn't in French. Since, after all, that's the language it was written in.

I do see your point. Now, if she'd purchased The Neverending Story in German, that would be quite an accomplishment. But still! It is an old and classic book, in a foreign language.

Sorry. =\ I was so tempted, because it had the spiffy red and green ink and everything. But I thought it foolish, since I couldn't read it. *sad face*

Because it's an excuse to learn German?

I'm learning French just so I can read that book in French. Honest truth. Otherwise I'd be taking Spanish again this year.
