the Difference

Last night in class a quarter of the students weren't there because of the fair, which started that night, and the rest were all in a hurry to get out of class so they could go to the Very Important Football Game.

I just wanted to get home in time to watch the last half hour of the Bush/Kerry debate.

It's all my parents fault. If they had raised me better, I would be able to fit in.

Um. A snerkle (to me--and as far as I know, I think I made it up) is sort of a chuckle with a great deal of irony involved, or a snort that is faintly more genteel then usual, or surpressed chuckle+snort combined.

Or something. I use it as an alternitive to *giggle* because I'm generally not a giggly kind of person.

In thinking about it, a snerkle could also be what happens when you try to laugh while snorkling. It's a real multi-purpose word.
