... through an improbable series of events, beginning with my picking her up just to keep her from getting stepped on but "absolutely not keeping her, promise, cross my heart" and ending with "well, we might as well have an inside cat and an outside cat" from dad, I have aquired a very tiny coal-black kitten. My mother dubbed her Chatterbox for her incessant mewling, which hushed as soon as she realized she'd found somebody to love and take care of her. But the name will stick, because it's the first time my non-pet-person mother has ever voluntarily named a pet.

Welcome to the world, baby girl!

She's very tiny and very cuddleable, with a sweet and spunky
disposition.

Us three girls. (Goldy, softie that she is, always gets along wonderfully
with cats, particularly when they are introduced to her as young'uns. She
mothers them to death. )
Let's hear it, now: awwwww!

Awwwwwwwwww! and I don't even normally like cats.
For a kitty, she is excessively cute! ;)

Hannah doesn't care for cats much either, and even she admited this baby is a cutie. :)

Awwwwww! How adorable! You're reminding me of how much I miss having kittens around! Our cats are all quite sweet, but kittens are darling in a whole 'nuther way- so awkward & adventuresome & cuddly...

I love my Hagen to death, but I had been wishing he'd stayed in the kitten stage a bit longer. Now I have another chance! :)

AWWW! She is a little sweetie, and you can now join the ranks of the elite with multiple pets. :D

Are you growing your hair out? It looks good!

Three pets, now! O_O I think that's the most we've had at one time, ever. Except when Goldie had her ten puppies, lol.

Sort of by accident, yeah. :) The last time I got it cut the girl didn't take as much off as I told her to, and I've been too busy (and too cheap) to go back again.

AWWWWWW! She's so cute. I want one! But I'm waiting for the right kitten to come along. Both of our cats were rescued. Wyatt rescued Kitty when she was just a wittle baby hiding in someone's engine for warmth (hint: don't start the car if it starts mewwing). And Twerp had been hit by a car and then abandoned at the clinic I worked at.

Except for Hagen, who was a birthday gift, all our pets have been strays that just have showed up at our house. We live on a road where a lot of people tend to dump off unwanted animals...it's so sad. =\ But happy, when I can rescue them!

awwwww! And the cat's cute too. ;) Sorry, I couldn't resist being a bit cheeky.

I wish I still had a cat. Of course being allergic kind of made it a "strained relationship".

I think when I grow old and am still single, I shall break the stereotype by not being an old cat lady, but an old kitten lady.

I just must find some way to make this scientifically possible, because I kinda get attached and they kinda grow up.

In other words, AWWWWWWW.

Simple: every six months, get another kitten. By the time you die, you will have a million cats running around your house and everybody will call you eccentric!

Ah, thank you! I have finally found one fool-proof style of dress that flatters my body -- the faux wrap jersey dress. :) That particular one is George (Wal-Mart's more upscale British import line; the only brand WM sells that actually comes small enough for me, and it's great because George clothes are all more 1) well made, 2) dressy/professional, and 3) relatively inexpensive, and 4) did I mention they actually have an XS that fits?!), but I've found several great ones at Stage (also known as Bealls, Palais Royal, and Peebles, depending where you live). I think they're everywhere this summer. :)

Lovely! I love the fit. Yes, everyone is wearing them. I haven't found any I could both afford and like yet here, but we also don't have WalMart or ANY of the other stores you suggested. ;) I did check Target, but our Target is pretty lousy.

I probably have too many dresses anyhow. Ha!

Dang! Not that Wal-Mart is fantastic, but I've been thrilled that they have one line of clothes that's actually ... stylish. And well made.

Target has the Isaac Mizrahi designs, right? I've heard they are good clothes, but we don't have a Target here. =\

Your little kitty is adorable, but what really made me smile was:

Welcome to the world, baby girl!

I write that in EVERY card for newborn girls. Way to channel Fanny Flagg!

Exactly! Soft and fluffy ... and yet also bony ... ah, kittens.

Exactly. Boney. They feel like you could snap them in two without effort. Especially the teeny tiny jaw bone.
