"There .. was .. a .. mighty ..." storm. I had to crawl along at 30 MPH most of the way home, but just as I was deciding to pull over and wait for the rain to abate before starting up into the hills towards home, it let up and I was able to make it in time for dinner after all.

Later I looked outside to find that the sky had turned a brilliant shade of tangerine. I took pictures, but I'm too lazy to post any tonight.

I am happy to report that my imaginative life is alive and well. In fact, I bet my imaginary world is better that your imaginary world! I should start writing again. I've let that slip.

I'm so happy to see so many of my friends in relationships, and married, and about to be married, and engaged, and with someone they love ... I know sometimes there's the worry that your single friends are sick of hearing about your love, but let me tell you: I'm not. It's a beautiful thing, and it makes me so happy to see my friends happy. :)

Anyone know of  a good way to rid a cat of fleas? They are stubborn little buggers. I've resorted to frequent baths, which we all hate. It kills me to see him looking like a drowned otter, but it's that or mom threatens to kick him out. Well, probably not really, but she's being very generous to even let him be an inside cat at all, the darling creature, as she's really not a pet person at all.

How can you not be a pet person?!

I found a new drink obsession today: Dole's fruit sparklers. They're not full of sugar, taste good, and have at least a bit of nutritional value, especially compared to the super-sweet caramel latte I thought I wanted.

Goodness gracious, look at the time. This girl has got to go accomplish something in life!

Edit: I just decided that I hate this icon. That's all.

From past experiences, I've managed to rid a kitten of fleas by giving him a few warm baths and scrubbing his fur with regular palmolive dish soap.

What goes on in your imaginary world? Can you shoot lasers from your eyes? Yeah...didn't think so. :-P

Palmolive, huh? Interesting!

Lots goes on in my imaginary world, mostly things I won't be sharing. Lasers do, however, occasionally make an appearance, although not coming from my eyes. :D

LOL This post amused me, Marie. :-D

I don't know how you can not be a pet person. But we use Frontline on our pets and it works great. 1800petmeds.com :-D

I might have to go with Frontline if I can't get it cleared up soon. Thanks for the recommendation!

I love that icon! You should keep it. :-)

I've tried *everything* to get rid of fleas, but finally I buckled down and buy Frontline for the dogkins. That stuff works awesomely! I buy it here (http://www.petshed.com/products/item37.asp), because it's cheaper than anywhere else I've found...but I haven't looked many places. :-)

You know, I've always been so grateful for you, because lots of single girls do get sick of hearing about their friends in relationships. (I used to! :-)) And you've always been so supportive and happy about it! That's such a cool thing. *hugs*

I might have to get Frontline... oh well, I don't like to see the litlte Hagen--cat suffer. Do you get the stuff that you put on the spot behind their head?

I love hearing about you and Josh! It really does make me happy. :)

I do - it's called Frontline Plus. :-) You may want to give him a bath (poor thing!) and then put it on, because when I wash the dogkins sooner than a few days after I put it on, it doesn't seem to last as long. Normally it lasts a whole month or longer. :-)

I'm so glad you don't mind hearing all the smoo! Hehe That's so encouraging. :-)

Frontline Plus is probably the best thing you can use (Frontline kills the adults - Frontline plus also kills eggs and larvae - nothing kills the pupal/cocoon stage). It's safe and very effective. It comes in the topspot form that you put between the shoulder blades and it also comes in spray form (they both have the same active ingredient). Don't use over-the-counter flea products, since they can have bad reactions in cats (muscle tremors, etc - bad).

If the cat lives inside you'll also need to clean his environment. After you've treated him, you'll need to wash his bedding/anything he sleeps on, vacuum the floors & furniture(I like to put a cut up flea collar - they're worthless on animals - in the vacuum bag to help kill the fleas inside, you can also after vacuuming tape the opening to the bag shut and immediately through it out). If you have a lot of fleas in the environment (or you're getting bit) you may want to spray the furniture with an OTC flea spray.

Thank you so much for all the info! I am definitely going to order the Frontline Plus. Should I get the topspot or the spray? I'm assuming it's one or the other and that both would be overkill. :) I can tell mom is going to be great at the vacuuming, lol, and I'll pick up something to spray around as well.

I really appreciate hearing from someone who knows. It's so handy to have friends with expertise in so many areas!

I think Frontline Plus only comes in the topspot. I'm not sure. All we have in the clinic is regular Frontline spray. As to spray or topspot, it's really personal preference. The topspot is easier since it's just one tube on the back. The spray is sometimes more economical if you get a big bottle, because you can get more treatments out of it vs several tubes of the topspot. The topspot is also less stressful on the pet since they don't have to be sprayed all over.

p.s. if you do get the topspot and it manages to drip down far enough for him to lick it, don't panic. It's perfectly safe, but he will start to drool alot 'cause it tastes nasty.

Topspot it is, then. We've tried some other spray treatments and he doesn't like to be still long enough for us to cover him completely. :) I'll go order some today.
