The more dramatic events are, the less I tend to post about them. And the less words I have to say about them.
So this will be short: yesterday morning we had a chimney fire, which turned out to be very small, thankfully, but we thought it might have caught the attic on fire. And so I was roused from my bed to call 911, my brother fetched the fire extinguisher, and my mom ran around being mostly useless. In five minutes we had four--FOUR--fire trucks in our yard, and about 15 firemen (most of them quite of the cute variety) crawling around the roof and attic, pouring salt down the stove pipe (yes, really), and telling us stories about their own chimney fires. I found this all very amusing, once I retreated to my room to dress and put on a little makeup.
Afterwards everyone else went to town to shop away their stress, and I stayed home and cleaned. Fire extinguishers make such a mess.
It's a heck of a way to get out of bed in the morning. More effective then an alarm and more invigorating then coffee.
Strange how this was one of my worst fears, and it hasn't made me noticibly more paranoid yet.
