Finish the sentence...

When I grow up...

(When I grow up, I'm going to have a house with a library. And in this library shall be thousands of books, one cozy chair, and a floor-standing globe.)

What about you?

When I grow up

I want to live in a house by the sea and have a boat close by so that I can sail away into the sunset, with thousands of books in the boat andin the house.

Which sea would you like to live near?

[identity profile] ladyrita.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
When I grown up I'm going to always make my bed and speak French and Latin.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I would love to speak Latin. I learned to read some by accident, but speaking is another story.

[identity profile] ladyrita.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Sayers lamented that she never felt comfortable speaking it, due to not speaking it from birth the way she did French. I know I'll never know it well, but one can dream.

[identity profile] savetheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
French! Yay! :D

When I grow up I'm going to have large hands so I can finally play all the Brahms I want. I'm also going to travel to Italy and look at original medieval and renaissance music. I will also have Bose CD players and speakers. And a couple grand pianos. And a husband.

[identity profile] savetheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, and all my friends will live within 10 minutes of my house. Can't forget that.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
All of that, eh?

Better start the hand exercises. =)

[identity profile] savetheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
All that and more. :)

Or I could just get a hand transplant. ;)

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You could be an Igor, then.

[identity profile] melyndie.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
...I will have smart children. And an even smarter cat.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Naturally your children will be brilliant!

I hadn't thought of you as a cat person. Hm. Have you ever had one?

[identity profile] melyndie.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, hopefully naturally and artificially (that is, by learning).

I love cats. We had cats for most of my growing up! Indoor kitties are the best. My brothers also love cats. It's just my parents that don't (and Mom claims an allergy). :-|

There we go...an appropriate icon.

When I grow up...

...I will be patient, gracious, & humble, be a flawless housekeeper, play the piano effortlessly & have a grand piano to indulge my piano-playing whims. I will keep up my moderate violin-playing, and continue to teach music lessons. I will be involved in counseling, somehow... perhaps at a crisis pregnancy center? Oh, and a husband would be lovely as well, but that's not something I'm resting my life's happiness upon. :-)

[identity profile] kathlenelsworth.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I forgot to add- and I will have a house spacious enough to contain all of the books I want to own, plus my grand piano (which I don't yet own...), and have a lovely view & plenty of space for entertaining friends & family.

Can I have a Corvette too? ;-)

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It never hurts to dream!

[identity profile] kathlenelsworth.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
*grin* That's as far as I'm going to get with some of these things ;-) Unless a mucho sweet person gifts me a Corvette.

[identity profile] misshoneybee.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, me too! I've dreamed of having a cozy library like the ones in movies and books, with a fireplace, sliding ladder and everything!

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*snaps fingers* I knew I was forgetting something! We must have a sliding ladder.

[identity profile] kathlenelsworth.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes! That's something I've always adored :-)

[identity profile] jmcphers.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
A house by the ocean with lots of windows and a grand piano. Also, a porch swing facing the ocean.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you have a preference which ocean?

[identity profile] jmcphers.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm partial to the Pacific, but I'm not picky. (-:

[identity profile] pianistamy.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
When I grow up, I will sing at people's weddings, live near the sea, watch a Disney movie at least once a week, and never cook lima beans.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-17 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
No lima beans? For shame!

When I grow up... I want to be an endearing old lady that's house is filled with books and I always have a pleasant but stern disposition. I will be the sort whose house is neatly in order with freshly baked something-deliciously yummy with tea ready on hand. I will be ordered and structured but always whimsical and filling children's heads with the wildest of notions and doing everything I can possibly do to foster imagination. I will be wise and witty and stern. :D Oh and looks ! I will have long sweeping grey hair that has a bit of a silver tint. I will scoop it all up into a gorgeously delicious little bun on the top of my head. I will have very wrinkled skin that is soft and worn.

Oh, I cannot wait to grow old!!

(Pssst! I was checking out how my recent entry looked on a friend's friends' page when I noticed this entry and could not help but write a little note! I've always looked forward to growing old and had to endulge (at least a little) in my fantasty grown-up world).

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-03-20 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
A house full of book is always a wonderful thing to look forward to. =)
