I cooked most of the weekend (banana & blood orange crepes, cheesecake, caramel sauce [no recipe required], some killer mashed potatoes and even more killer black pepper gravy [there is an ART to gravy, you see], french puffs [twice] and other stuff that I have forgotten, because it has been consumed and is long gone) but really all I want to do is go out and make more noms. But then I would need someone to eat them, for I'm neither hungry nor needful of the calories.

My mother's birthday is today, and I overheard her telling her brother she figures that maybe now it's time to be a grown up. Then later we decided that nah, neither of us would ever grow up. It's more fun to stay perpetually 21. And Younger Brother is 20 as of tomorrow. How did THAT happen?

Note: Even though the clocks went ahead an hour, I feel like it's later than it is. It's only 8:30 but I feel like it should be bedtime.

Mom, Dad and I finished Cranford this afternoon. We agreed that entirely too many people died. I LOVED it, and I never want to see it again. So is the general consensus that Mary ends up with the spectacle-doctor? Perhaps this is addressed in Return to Cranford?

I keep trying for weeks to read fewer than 8 books at once (and I've finished 8 this month already), but it keeps not happening.

Have I mentioned: RENFAIRES!!!! Less than a month away. So happy. So many plans.

Ha! It just started raining, big plump pattering drops. This, I think, is my cue to crawl in bed with some of those 8 books.

I can't believe your brother is 20! I actually remember seeing photos when he was little -- well, you know, 14 or so.

Your food sounds amazing and you are even more amazing for cooking awesome food like that and yet keeping slim.

I decimated my kitchen this evening, BUT I have lunches made this entire week and breakfasts, too. And lots and lots of readily available and healthy snacks. I am excited about food.

Also. I thought of you the other day. I had to help a fourth grade student research Oklahoma for a report. :)

YAY for food and cooking and healthy things and mmmm, now I'm hungry again. :)

Knowing that "Cranford" came from the author of "North and South," a high mortality rate would not be a huge surprise.

It has felt late very early, but a dark, suddenly cold day (after a warm, sunny, spring-like day) has contributed to that.

I am far enough north of you that our evening pattering drops started out as sleet and turned to snow. Hopefully some of its prettiness will be lingering by the morning light.

I wish you pretty snow and safe roads. :)

Gravy making IS an art. I'm from the southeast, so I know.

So okay ... what kind of gravy do you make? White or brown?

Well--I can't make it on a regular basis because of cholesterol stuffs, but white gravy is TOTALLY BETTER.

There is a cult following of chocolate gravy (different from brown gravy) but this seems terrifying and gross to me.

Yet further proof that we need to live MOAR CLOSER. White gravy is ... Mmm. ♥ My mother grew up making only brown gravy and didn't even know white gravy existed until we moved to Oklahoma - isn't that random?

And I agree about chocolate gravy. :D

How can one not KNOW about white gravy? *sigh* What a sad life.

Now I am craving buttermilk biscuits and gravy. THANK YEW FOR THATTTT. ;)

I'm re-thinking this whole KS thing solely because of the great weekend with Lizzi and Jordan.

KS is just so nicely centrally located! I would think it was a great place to live except that it's ... well, it's KANSAS, and Kansas hates me.

At least Oklahoma has one of the best musicals EVER named after it. >.>
