eleneariel: (travel (road))

Having arrived at our mostly-final destination, I have several things to mention:

1) A construction-related detour brought us unexpectedly near the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library, so we randomly decided to stop. It was awesome! And Random!

2) And then we took a slight detour to Winston, MO by way of Galliton, on a road that resembled a rollercoaster, and stopped at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, where I exchanged pleasantries with a chain-smoker and bought string cheese.

Then we arrived in Des Moines, spent some time looking for something that wasn't there, and stopped at a coffee shop instead.

The End (for now).

My parents are on vacation and keep going to stuff that's closed for remodeling or closed only on the day they happened to visit.

Dad's texts on the subject are classic.

So glad you are enjoying the little things--and the unexpected things. That's what makes traveling fun. (And thanks for sharing the joy with us. :-D)

A couple of the ladies I work with got to talking about visiting Presidential libraries and how interesting they are. They visited one and are now hooked and visit others whenever they are in the area.

I would like to someday visit all of the presidential libraries and all of the state capitols!
