Car shopping, day two

Well looky, looky! This is much more what I had in mind, frankly. It's a little older than the Focus but actually has less miles -- and also cheaper tags and insurance. It's once again the luxury version of the model, and has pretty much everything that the Focus does except, sadly, a sunroof. I test drove it, and it is good. It's much more the body style I prefer. The leather seats feel just like the ones in my old car, comfy.

Miss [profile] ruthette, your box arrived today! Thank you ever so much! I have quite a dilemma, however, in deciding which book to start first. Thank you for including Beowulf, I'm very excited about that one! (Which reminds me, have you read The Song of Roland?) I shall take excellent care of the babies and not read them in the bath, nor carry them with me and let them bang about in my copious purses, nor drip coffee on their pages.

Fiskar was, perhaps, not a man worthy of much thought. He had never read a book. He had never written a line worth reading.

Ooh! Purely for look's sake, I like this one better than the focus. :-)

You're going to read Beowulf, eh? Have you read it before? We had to read that as well as The Song of Roland for Western Civ. I.

Ha, me too. :)

I've read parts of Beowulf, but never the whole thing straight through -- the copy [livejournal.com profile] ruthette has loaned me looks like an absolutely excellent translation and very enjoyable. Song of Roland I've been half way through for about six months, but I'll get it done eventually. A friend of mine is writing a novel based on it. :)

Oh, YAY! Do have fun with them, dear. :)

[identity profile] ruthette.livejournal.com 2007-05-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
And no, I haven't read it yet!

I'm only half way (see my comment to Jenny above), but it seems like the type of thing you might like if you like Beowulf.

Oh, and I don't mind the notes and underlinings at all! I really enjoy them, actually. My favorite used books are the ones with such markings. It makes it more of a communal experience, somehow.

Excellent. :)

So...what is it?

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2007-05-06 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! It's an Alero.

ooh, nice car!

I'm hoping my mechanic okays it! If he says it's a good car, I'm going to buy it Monday. :D

Sweet car!

Y'know, sunroofs are the epitome of coolness, of course, but I've found that I actually rarely use mine. It always seems to be either too hot or too cold to open it, or it's the middle of the day and the sun glares straight down on the top of my head, or it makes so much noise I can't hear my music. Hehe

I love the sunroof in my parents car -- somehow it makes it feel roomier, even when it's not actually open. But it does give me a sunburn rather often, so I suppose not having one would be good for my health. :)
