An Apology, with Embarressment
Having so loudly and publicly maligned it, it is only right that I equally loudly and publicly make this announcement:
Ladies and gentlemen, I, Marie, do hereby declare that I no longer hate jazz.
That is all.

I'm glad, I should make you a Kenny G mix cd. Now if only Sarah would see the light...

Seriously, you don't know how big a thing this is. You haven't been around long enough to see me so roundly declare how much I hate and detest all forms of jazz.

yeah, our relationship is in an infancy stage. So would you say that you now actually like Jazz, or can you just tolerate it? What made you change your mind?

I used to say I liked every kind of music except for jazz and rap. I guess I'm down to just rap now, and come to think of it, there is that one song... ; )

Can I use this icon when talking about jazz?
Not only did I do a complete 180 on my view of jazz, but I learned a lot about its history and beginnings, which made me get even more into it. It doesn't hurt that the city I live near was a staple jazzers pitstop. (Though I had no idea before of this fact.)
I'm still a white bread swing gal (Benny Goodman!), but I really appreciate the more avant-garde bee-bop and later stuff now. Even though some of that stuff I don't think could possibly ever be enjoyed unless the listener (and player?) was inebriated in some form and I'm not that into it.

But I'm not admitin' nothin'! And it's just one song!

Or maybe not.

To that, and to some rap, and some country...
All 3 are genres I insisted I could never like.
