Hi, it's me again

My dad's thinking of buying a 1976 Mercedes 450SL.

Sweeeeeeeet.

Very cool! Convertible, roadster, diesel? I've always liked imports over American cars. While I know that's not overly patriotic I can't help it. I own a Toyota but really like Audi. :)

A lot of "imports" are actually made in America anyway these days. I think my 350Z was both designed and made here in the states!

[identity profile] mcubedtech.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Very true. I wouldn't be surprised if my Toyota was actually made in the USA.

BTW - I've always thought the 350Z was a cool car, what year is yours?

Yeah, I wouldn't be suprised if it was. What model of Toyota do you have?

It's a 2005.

It's actually a Scion XB. 2004, silver (best color IMO).

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/patrick___/ 2006-10-09 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool, those Scions are really interesting looking vehicles.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that reminds me. It's been funny how many 350Z's (350Zs?) I keep seeing around! There's a yellow one always parked downtown, but I see black ones and silver ones all over the place.

Silver definitely shows the car off to its best advantage. You done good. =)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/patrick___/ 2006-10-07 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, thanks!! It's funny that you say that, because it seems like everytime I see a red or black one I think, "Man, maybe I should have waited and ordered a red or black one!" But I like silver too. :-) They're starting to get pretty common now! I remember when I first bought mine they were still pretty rare, but they seem to be everywhere now.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't really go wrong with either black or silver, but I think the black kind of swallows up the lines of that particular car and makes it harder to appreciate its full asthetic value.

Or maybe I've thought too much about it, lol.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/patrick___/ 2006-10-09 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, good point. I hadn't thought about that before, but I think you're right.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't catch whether it was a diesel, but it sounded gooood and it can go 160. =D

And it's not a roadster, but I forget what you call it. Two doors but four seats. Whatever that one is. They were telling me all about the engine and stuff and I just wanted to know, "What color is it?"

[identity profile] radiantlove.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't that a coupe?
*grin* color is what it's all about ;-)

Sounds like a v. sweet car!
I'm looking forward to pics :-D

[identity profile] radiantlove.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Woohoo! :-D
smart car-knowledge points ;-)

heh. I know so little about cars...

What color is it?

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Right now it's a dark moss green, but it would need a paint job. If he gets it, we're thinking dark red to go with the tan interior. =)

Woah! That's faster than my Z! It tops out at 156 according to the manual. (Not that I've ever tried to go that fast!) ;-)

Two doors but four seats. Whatever that one is.

Coupe, I guess?

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh, of course not. *grin*

It's really spiffy for such an old car. Sunroof, car alarm, cruise control... (I had no idea they even had INVENTED cruise that long ago!)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/patrick___/ 2006-10-07 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It was probably only available on Mercedes. ;-)

[identity profile] radiantlove.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Only 156? What a shame :-(

[identity profile] mcubedtech.livejournal.com 2006-10-08 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
My car is only rated to 125 but I can only attest to 115. ;)

[identity profile] radiantlove.livejournal.com 2006-10-15 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
hehe... only just?

I've a friend who is a firefighter/EMT, giving him a valid excuse for seeing how fast his car will go. Alas, I've so such excuse myself :-(

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/patrick___/ 2006-10-07 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Neat! Make sure and take some pictures if he gets it. :-)

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew that would be your response. ; )

I'm hoping to go down and get a picture of it even if he doesn't buy it! (It's owned by a neighbor/friend from church)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/patrick___/ 2006-10-07 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Neat! =) I'd like to see it.

[identity profile] wandering-flame.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking about buying a yoyo myself.
