I'm currently reading "The Man Who Ate Everything" and I completely agree that it's very hit and miss. His other book (which I happened to read first, as it was the only one available through the library), "It Must Have Been Something I Ate", was quite a bit better, so I felt 'safe' in ordering TMWAE off Amazon... more fool me.
