I beleive the relaxed ticket policy is just them not being as strict around the holidays in relation to ticketing and stuff. Like, if the security threat goes from green to yellow or however the system goes, and ticket prices bump up in price, then you don't pay that extra ammount. This is so that people will feel more peace of mind when traveling around the holidays and use their airline. It's just a way of encouraging more people to fly.
