In the back of one of the books that I bought Tuesday (see www.greatestjournal.com/users/literarymusings for further details on Book Buying and Current Reading, and also to see the the new icons I added, as Greatest Journal apparently allows you an unlimited amount), I found an old postcard. It has a one cent stamp, and is postmarked May the 11th, 1916, from Moutaindale, PA. The address says only "Mr. Andy Engle, Albion PA", and the message is a cryptic little thing...

Hello Andy got your card. Will write Uncle Jon a letter Later and send you your favor. So long, GMG.

The best thing, though, is the decoration on the front of the post card. In ornate and various colored lettering, it proclaims:

THIS IS A LEAP YEAR: When for some reason, Fate decrees an open season; When men become lawful prey, Of any damsel who comes their way. Shun all females or YOU may be, Led into captivity.

I wonder, yes I do, why GMG chose that postcard to send to Andy? I wish it could talk! Huh. I wonder, with all the info available online, if I could dig up anything about Mr. Andy Engle? That would be interesting.

Umm. Champagne truffles are very, very delicious. I wonder how they manage to get that peculier flavor inside a little ball of chocolate?

Oh, I see. We have a small enough library that everyone is just a "librarian" and we all do just about everything. =)

sounds nice :)

the library I'm at is a small branch of a really large one. all sorts of "politics" going on and it drives me crazy. a few weeks ago, a page got reprimanded for asking the reference librarian for assistance. puh-leez. ;)
