So, what have I been up to, you ask?

Of course I'll be happy to tell you. I've been candying grapefruit peel - a delicacy surprisingly more delicious than it sounds - and watching Remington Steele; cooking my last halloween pumpkin and trying
laraemily's Coke Blak recipe (yum!); boxing up items from my LJ Sale and drinking Holy Chocolate ("every sip blessed!")
And I'm only two days into a four day weekend.

Somewhat off topic: Have you ever had made fondue? I've always been intrigued by it and so bought a fondue cookbook that was on sale (for $5 ;-)), so now I want to try it...but I don't have any of the fondue stuff. Anyway, if you've had it/made it, I'd be interested in hearing about it--you always have interesting food-related stories. :-D

Date: 2008-02-24 07:40 pm (UTC)Fondue: never actually made it myself, but I'm sure I've even some somewhere. I don't think that you have to have a real fondue pot or anything. As long as you melt the cheese slowly in a thick pot on low heat, I think that would keep it from burning or curdling or anything, right? If you experiment with it, let me know. Anything with cheese makes me hungry. :)

Date: 2008-03-11 04:33 am (UTC)Well, I got a fondue set for Christmas (we had Christmas on Friday)! So guess what I"ll be trying! :-D I'm thinking about trying it on Easter Sunday for "Easter dinner" because we just had a big dinner (Christmas)...so it's a bit too soon to have another ham, et al.
You totally need to come visit me so we can try all sorts of exotic stuff. :-D

Date: 2008-02-24 10:14 pm (UTC)I've thought about candying peels before, but I always think of the peels as coated in wax and junk. Though I'm not an organic person, I wouldn't really want to try it without wax-free oranges.

Date: 2008-02-24 10:35 pm (UTC)I always make sure to scrub the fruit really well and/or use that fruit wash stuff. I think that's supposed to take off the wax? I'm rather wishing I still had access to all the perfectly natural and fresh fruit we had in Florida...
