Hannah, I thought of you

At the gym tonight I watched some C-SPAN, which was broadcasting (why?) a press conference with French President Nicolas Sarkozy. A very nice young female reporter asked him if he was going to marry his girlfriend, and when. He spent ten minutes -- I do not jest, TEN MINUTES - rambling on and on about the love lives of past French presidents and love in general and the media and his trip to Egypt and how if the media doesn't want to see pictures of him they shouldn't send photographers ... and never answered the question. It was the funniest thing I had seen in a long time. He's just so ... French.

Also, Rubbermaid storage bins make my little heart so happy. I bought a whole bunch tonight and I can't wait to go in and start organizing stuff.

Hahaha! Oh man. Those Frenchies... *shakes head*

You would have died laughing. His gestures! His facial expressions!

Heck, it's probably on YouTube by now. Lol.

That's hilarious.

When I graduated, some senator or something came and spoke at the ceremony. I honestly couldn't tell you afterwards what he said or what his point was. He had TOTALLY mastered the art of talking intelligently about absolutely nothing for as long as he needed to.

Ditto. A double minority educator awarded in Clinton's administration spoke at my graduation and was periodically applauded loudly for such contradictory remarks as "I've come a long way in life and I can tell you there's no such thing as a free lunch" and "It is absolutely imperative that every child have health care provided them!"

*shakes head*

Hehe... That's awesome.

Also, your icon is HILARIOUS.

Didn't matter much anyway, I'd smuggled in a good book to read :D

Thanks!

Hee! Thanks :)

I wonder if you learn that in Politician's School?

Your icon makes me grin. :D

They sometimes have C-Span on at the FT. Lewis gym too. I never understood why. It's good for background noise, but certainly not for a gym environment. :-P

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
I chose C-Span. It was better than MTV or WeTV. Lol.

Hehe, it amuses me so much when politicians have such a hard time answering a simple question. In general I kinda like Sarkozy though.

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Except for the fact that he divorced his wife and almost immediately hooked up with a model ... he's kinda charming and really funny. ;)

[identity profile] pansyprincess.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Well yeah, excluding his personal life. ;) I should have clarified that I only kinda like him when he speaks on politics.

Oh, and I forgot to comment on the Rubbermaid part of your post...Rubbermaid is so awesome. *sigh*

[identity profile] eattheolives.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Rubbermaid rocks my world! *looks happily at neat stack of clear plastic containers*

He's a very engaging public speaker. :)

Ah, I love Rubbermaid storage containers and organizing! I'm eager for my Friday just because I know that organizing + storage bins await :D

Oo, I must look that up. Jake and I heard part of his answer on the radio yesterday, and it was killing us.
